On earth as it is in heaven
Several years ago I created a small print series entitled On Earth as it is in Heaven. The phrase comes from the Lord’s prayer—the idea that the Kingdom of God isn’t necessarily just some place that is up there or out there, but it’s also something Christ brings about on this earthly plane. For this new mixed media diptych, I wanted to explore the same theme, but on a larger scale.
The horizontally-oriented arrows represent our relationship to earth and mankind, while the vertically-oriented arrows indicate our spiritual nature and the relationship to “our Father, who art in heaven.” Movement across these two axes occurs simultaneously. While we’re often not attuned to what’s happening in a spiritual sense as we move through our daily lives, the less-visible reality of God’s Kingdom is always at work in and among us.
