Journal Design
Between the spring of 2015 and the fall of 2019, I produced a journal called Ink & Letters. After publishing the first two issues alone, it was evident that I needed some help. I asked Dr. Brent Newsom to join me as "letters editor" at which point I became "ink editor"—essentially he edited copy and I art-directed. We collaborated in this format for issues 3-8. Still to this day, it's a project that I'm quite proud of. Ultimately, Dr. Newsom and I took on more administrative responsibilities, and this project had come to end.
In that four year span we included the work of a lot very talented artists and writers.
Book Covers
I've designed several book covers over the years. These run the gamut from theological nonfiction, to books of poetry, to a collection of essays. Note: the cover for Black Sunday, was not ultimately used by the publisher, but I left it in my portfolio. The concept is--since it's a book about the dust bowl--to have the type appear as if it's fine dust blowing away.
Sermon Graphics
For several years, I created sermon series for Collective Church, based near Ft. Worth. The challenge of these types of graphics is to encapsulate what is perhaps a 5 or 6 week study into a single image.
Skate Decks
I great up skateboarding, so it was always a dream to design a custom deck. These were commissioned by my friend Jason Smith and were for sale in OKC and on the WWW.
